Amber Riehl (she/they) is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) offering assessment and clinical counselling services to adolescents and adults (age 12 and up).  Her areas of focus include:

Amber believes that clients are experts in their own lives. She works with clients to clarify their goals and design individualized treatment plans to address a wide range of psychosocial, interpersonal, and mental health concerns. Amber uses a flexible and integrative approach to assist clients to increase self-awareness and achieve meaningful changes in their lives. Practicing using a values-based approach, Amber incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative and Feminist approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindful Self Compassion (MSC). Specific techniques are varied, creative, and tailored to meet the individual needs and treatment goals of clients.

Amber is supervised by a registered clinical psychologist, Dr. Erin Ross (Certificate of Registration #5422, The College of Psychologists of Ontario).  At any time you may request to meet or to discuss your treatment with their supervisor.

Education and Experience

Amber has been a practicing RSW since 2012 in the areas of disability, geriatrics, behavioural supports, and primary care. Amber has extensive experience in providing assessments, care-planning, supportive & clinical counselling, and psycho-education to youth, adults and older adults. She has also worked extensively with clients, family members, and professional caregivers, across a variety of settings including home, school, primary-care, hospital, and long-term care.

Amber completed her Bachelors of Arts (honours) at the University of Guelph (2004), Bachelor of Social Work at Dalhousie University, and is currently enrolled in her Masters of Social Work at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Health.  She is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.  Amber is also a certified and experienced yoga and meditation teacher.

Fees

Therapy services are $115 per hour payable by e-transfer or credit card. Receipts provided. Services are covered by most extended health benefit packages.
